Frequently Asked Questions

General Contact & Communication

I’ve already contacted you through another method — should I send another message?

No. All enquiries sent to any Owl Centre inbox or platform are picked up. Duplicate messages can delay response times.

  • Your GP
  • 111 for urgent medical advice

Please visit our Urgent Support page if you require further support.

I was told to contact you after a certain time — what do I do?

Please email enquiries@theowl.org. We will review your referral status and update you once complete.

Can I check where I am on the RTC waiting list?

No — we cannot provide individual waiting list positions. Referrals are processed strictly in the order received.

Right to Choose

What is the RTC process?

The Right to Choose pathway allows eligible individuals in England to access NHS‑funded, remote Autism or ADHD assessments. You can find more information about Right to Choose via our website here.

How long does RTC take?

We cannot give timeframes. Appointments are offered as soon as clinical capacity becomes available.

How do I request an RTC referral?

Speak with your GP and complete the RTC forms on our website here. If you need both autism and ADHD assessments, both sets of forms must be submitted.

How will I know my referral has been received?

You will be contacted once your referral is triaged. For reassurance, you may also check with your GP.

Payment and cancellations

I need to cancel an appointment. Am I free to do so at any time?

Please try to contact us at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment. You will be charged 50% of the session price if you do not attend without cancelling in advance. This is to cover our therapists’ loss of earnings and perhaps also any room booking fees that we incur. Also, if you are late for an appointment, you will be charged in full but the appointment will end at the scheduled time.

How do I pay for therapy? What methods do you (not) accept?

Currently, we send out invoices by email at the end of each month for that month’s sessions. The invoice provides clients with an option to make an internet bank transfer or to send a cheque through the post.

We are unable to accept childcare vouchers as payment, nor can we currently take card payments over the ‘phone. We can, however, take payments from most medical insurers. Please liaise with your insurer to find out if they meet the full costs of our treatment, and whether you would pay us and claim back from them, or whether we should email our invoice to them.

After invoices are sent out, we ask families to pay within 15 days, and schools and other organisations to pay within 30 days.

What if I can’t pay within the required timeframe?

Contact Us as soon as possible to discuss your situation.

Complaints & Records

How do I request copies of records or documents?

Through a Subject Access Request (SAR):

  • Can be verbal or written
  • Usually free
  • Third‑party details are redacted
  • Proof of identity required

How do I make a complaint?

Complaints are reviewed under our official Complaints Policy.
