Psychoeducation for Chronic Pain

At The Owl Centre, we’re pleased to offer a Psychoeducation for Chronic Pain programme designed to support both healthcare professionals and patient groups in understanding and managing the psychological impact of chronic pain.

Train the Trainer

In collaboration with specialist physiotherapist Benjamin Sims, we offer a Train the Trainer programme for healthcare professionals working in community and primary care settings. This six-week, evidence-informed course equips professionals with the tools to deliver psychoeducational sessions confidently and effectively.

Topics include the relationship between pain, trauma, and mental health; strategies for emotional regulation; and approaches to reduce reliance on medications—particularly opiates. The programme supports trauma-informed practice, promotes long-term self-management, and is highly cost-effective for commissioners.

Patient Group Delivery

This programme can also be commissioned for direct delivery to patient groups. Sessions are led by our experienced clinicians and can be offered either face-to-face or online, depending on local needs and preferences.

The six-week group course helps patients explore the emotional and neurological aspects of chronic pain, build resilience, and develop self-management strategies. It also supports medication reduction, improves quality of life, and challenges unhelpful narratives around pain and mental well-being.
