The Owl Centre can carry out comprehensive audits to help schools understand how inclusive their current practice is, and where adjustments can be made to support neurodivergent students (Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Developmental Language Disorder among others).
We have supported the Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS) project, providing support for schools in a number of regions, which includes:
- Self-audit tool and professional ‘deep-dive’ audit of sensory and communication strategies
- Observations across the school day
- Staff discussions and feedback
- Pupil and parent voices (where appropriate)
We then provide a detailed, practical report with:
- Strengths and development areas
- Whole-school and classroom strategies
- SMART targets that can be implemented as part of school improvement plans
This will typically be done with a 1.5 day visit to the school, and 0.5 days for report writing. Follow-up training days can then be arranged to support work on targets provided, or specific training for whole-school approaches (e.g. Word Aware training / Colourful Semantics / developing use of visuals throughout school).
